AN INSIDER'S VIEW

So we have stopped evaluating others by what the world thinks about them. Once I mistakenly thought of Christ that way, as though he were merely a human being. How differently I think about him now! What this means is that those who become Christians become new persons. They are not the same anymore, for the old life is gone. A new life has begun! – 2 Corinthians 5:16-17 (NLT)

One of the wonderful things about being a Christian is that it allows us to perceive people in a different way than we ever did before. We now focus, not on the external, but on the internal.

After Paul's Damascus Road experience he viewed Jesus in a whole new light. This Christ, Whom he formerly viewed as an imposter at best, he now sees as God in human flesh. What was once a cause for malice has become an object of worship. Why? Because God gave Paul the insight of faith.

The same is true for us as individual believers. Prior to becoming Christ followers we often discerned a person's worth based on their physical appearance, age, financial status or other worldly measures of judgment. Now that Christ has made us new from the inside out we can see others in the same way that Jesus sees them. Rather than devaluing people that don't meet predetermined and counterfeit criteria, we can now assess their significance by who they have become in Christ.

PRAYER THOUGHT: Father, thank You for the new eyes You have given me. Guide me to always see others as You see them.
