THE FACE OF
GOD For God, who said, "Let there be light in the darkness," has
made us understand that this light is the brightness of the glory of God
that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ. – 2 Corinthians 4:6 (NLT)
Just as God brought light into a world of absolute darkness in
the creation account, He brings the light of understanding into our
formerly darkened hearts as we are recreated as disciples of Jesus
Christ. The first giving of light took place in the natural order; the
second gift of light is given supernaturally as God opens our minds to
the truth of Jesus Christ. The mind that was formerly blinded by the god
of this age has been given sight by the God of Creation.
This new understanding imparted to us gives us the ability to see
the glory of God manifested in the Person of Jesus. It helps us to
affirm the truth that the Christ is fully and completely God. It leads
us to fall to our knees in worship as we recognize that the face of
Jesus Christ is the face of God Himself.
It fills us with the purpose we have been searching for and leads
us into a destiny that is secure. When we see the face of Jesus we begin
to serve Him with our whole hearts, not out of guilt or fear, but
because we now realize that this is what we were created for. We are
compelled to react to our experience of being in the presence of God’s
glory. PRAYER THOUGHT: Lord, in Your glory I find my
purpose. May I reflect Your face in my life. |
