THE BODY OF
CHRIST And the church is his
body; it is filled by Christ, who fills everything everywhere with his
presence. – Ephesians
Jesus controls the universe, yet it is through the Church that He
makes Himself known to the world. Jesus has given the Church the
responsibility of being His representative on earth. All who belong to
Christ also belong to His Church. All who belong to His Church are
expected to stand for Christ in the home, the marketplace, the school,
or wherever else we find ourselves at any given moment. Jesus speaks and
acts through the Church corporately and also through individual members
of the Church. When people meet a Christ follower they are encountering
Christ Himself.
When we claim to worship the Christ we are committing ourselves
to allow Him to live out His life through our own. As the Church of
Jesus Christ we are commissioned with the responsibility of being Christ
to the world around us. This should be cause for deep personal
examination. In what ways am I a representative of Christ to the people
I am in contact with? What do they see in me that would remind them of
Jesus? Are there some things that I need to change to better reflect the
Christ that I worship? PRAYER THOUGHT: Lord, as a member of Your Body the
Church, I commit myself to represent You in the way You have
commissioned me. |
