LIFE UNDESERVED

All of us used to live that way, following the passions and desires of our evil nature. We were born with an evil nature, and we were under God's anger just like everyone else.   But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so very much,  that even while we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God's special favor that you have been saved!) – Ephesians 2:3-5 (NLT)

            If there is any consolation found in our former sin against God it is in the multitude of companions who have walked the same miserable road of perdition with us. No one has ever existed that has not given into the fleshly appetite of self-gratification. Satan would not have it any other way.

            But in our journey away from God we find that He never walked away from us. In His grace He forgave us of every transgression we ever made against Him. As we placed trust in Christ, God removed the sickness of sin that was killing us inside. And now, through that same trust, we find ourselves fully alive, a new creation, ready and able to walk the path that God has created for us.

            There is no patting ourselves on the back this time. God did it all. He forgave us, made us whole, and ignited within us the power for living.

PRAYER THOUGHT: Father, Your willingness to forgive is only matched by Your desire to love. Thank you for Your mercy.
