A GREATER RECOGNITION

And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God's marvelous love. And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it. Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God. – Ephesians 3:17-19 (NLT)

            The better we know God the more that we love Him. The more time we spend with Him the more solid our relationship becomes. God knows us intimately, but for us to comprehend God – His love, His personality, His character – we must spend time establishing community with Him, knowing that there will never come a time when God is fully and completely known to us. There is always more to know and experience when it comes to God.

            Paul prays that a personal experience of the love of Christ would come to His followers so that each would have the abundance of life offered to them. Fullness comes with understanding and understanding comes with experience. Time spent with God and in the activity of God breeds a depth of comprehension of His love in each of our lives.

PRAYER THOUGHT: God, show me the width, height, depth, and length of Your love. I want to spend the time necessary to know You better.
