GLORIOUS SON God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son
he made the universe and everything in it. The Son reflects God's own
glory, and everything about him represents God exactly. He sustains the
universe by the mighty power of his command. After he died to cleanse us
from the stain of sin, he sat down in the place of honor at the right
hand of the majestic God of heaven. – Hebrews 1:2b-3 (NLT)
It is important that we understand and accept Jesus in the way He
is presented to us in the Scripture. Some make the mistake of thinking
Jesus is somehow less than God. Yet, as this text clearly demonstrates,
Jesus is fully and completely God in every way. When you look at Jesus,
you are seeing the mirror image of the Father. The
Son of God is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe. He not only
spoke the world into existence, but with the power of His words holds
everything together. Surely Jesus is the radiance of God's glory in
every possible way.
The most remarkable truth found here is not the fact that Jesus
is God, but that He, being God, was willing to leave His position of
glory to die for our cleansing. The Son of God is the God of heaven, the
God of power, the God who is positioned above all, and yet He is also
the God of the Cross who experiences death so that we can know Him for
who He really is. PRAYER THOUGHT: Lord, forgive me for the times I
have not given You the proper honor. |
