FROM FATHER TO SON

But to his Son he says, "Your throne, O God, endures forever and ever. Your royal power is expressed in righteousness. You love what is right and hate what is wrong. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you, pouring out the oil of joy on you more than on anyone else." – Hebrews 1:8-9 (NLT)

It is such a gratifying experience to receive praise from your father. For most of us, it is an experience to treasure. To know that our father is pleased with us brings satisfaction to the soul. There is a particular pleasure derived from knowing that your dad looks upon you with admiration.

God the Father not only expressed praise for God the Son (Jesus), but addresses Him as "God." He is acknowledging and celebrating the fact that Jesus is Deity. Jesus' eternal nature, His ruling authority, and His dedication to righteousness do not make Him God, they simply stand as proof that He is God. In these facts God the Father finds reason to rejoice and celebrate! And He chooses to share His pleasure with His Son.

In Jesus, we too, find reason to rejoice. God the Son has come to us in human form and introduced us to the same truths concerning Himself that the Father is celebrating. In Christ we know God intimately. Because of Him, we shout praise to the heavens above.

PRAYER THOUGHT: Lord, only in You do I find true cause for celebration.
